January 31, 1946

X U.S. Corps was inactivated in Japan on 31 January 1946 after having fought in the Pacific Theater and conducting occupation duty.

August 8, 1950

The X corps' chief of staff was Maj. Gen. Clark L. Ruffner, who had arrived from the United States on 6 August and had started working with the planning group two days later. He was an energetic and diplomatic officer with long experience and a distinguished record in staff work. During World War II he had been Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Forces, Pacific Ocean Areas, in Hawaii. The X Corps staff was an able one, many of its members hand-picked from among the Far East Command staff.

The major ground units of X Corps were the 1st Marine Division and the 7th Infantry Division. In the summer of 1950 it was no easy matter for the United States to assemble in the Far East a Marine division at full strength.

August 26, 1950

It was reactivated in Tokyo, Japan, on 26 August 1950 from the GHQ FECOM Special Plans Staff.

September 15, 1950

X U.S. Corps landed in Korea on 15 September, as the Army component of Joint Task Force 7, the Inch'ŏn landing force.

December 26, 1950

The Corps was under FECOM control from activation until reassigned to the Eighth U.S. Army on 26 December 1950.

September 194

X U.S. Corps departed Korea in September 1954 and

April 27, 1950

was inactivated at Ft. Riley, Kans., on 27 April 1955. Note that X U.S. Corps, while under FECOM, had additional support units attached beyond the normal corps allotment to include 3d Logistical Command from September to December 1950.
